Israel prepares mass arrests in West Bank — Jerusalem Post

The Israel Defense Forces are preparing an operation involving mass arrests in the Palestinian village of Biddu in the West Bank, where the man detained by the military after an attack near Neve Tzuf comes from. The Jerusalem Post reported this, citing Army Radio.

Operation in Biddu and the West Bank

Biddu is located near Ramallah. According to Army Radio, Israeli forces plan to detain suspects in the village and document the detainee's home for its possible demolition. The operation is also expected to cover other areas of the West Bank, where dozens of suspects may be detained.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the scene of the attack on Sunday. He called it a serious terrorist act and said the military had quickly detained the man responsible for it.

Statements by the Israeli military and Hamas

Zamir said that the operation is not yet complete. According to him, Israeli forces will impose a blockade on the village and conduct an investigation to identify everyone who may have assisted the attacker.

Army Radio identified the detainee as a 37-year-old Hamas member and reported that he had visited the attack site the day before to prepare. Israeli security officials cited by the radio believe that the man acted alone both during the attack and in his attempt to flee. Hamas praised the attack but did not directly claim responsibility for it.
