Israel intensifies strikes on southern Lebanon despite US-brokered framework agreement
Israel carried out new airstrikes and artillery shelling of towns in southern Lebanon. According to Anadolu Agency, citing Lebanon's state-run NNA agency, residential neighborhoods in the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district were hit. On the outskirts of Haris-Hadata in the Al-Arish area of the Bint Jbeil district, two missiles struck and destroyed a house. Artillery also shelled the Marjayoun plain.
There were no immediate reports of casualties from the latest attacks. The new strikes were part of an escalation that began late in the evening on September 10 and included airstrikes, artillery shelling and large explosions in several towns in southern Lebanon.
Explosions in southern Lebanon
Overnight, Israeli forces carried out a large explosion in the town of Bani Hayyan in the Marjayoun district, NNA reported. Videos shared online showed large explosions near houses and residential structures.
In the Tyre district, Israeli aircraft attacked Mansouri, where Israeli forces also carried out explosions, according to the agency. Wadi al-Hujayr and Wadi al-Saluki in the Bint Jbeil district, as well as the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya toward Mayfadoun in the Nabatieh Governorate, came under artillery fire.

Statement on the destruction of tunnels
A separate explosion occurred on the Ali al-Taher heights near Nabatieh al-Fawqa. It caused strong tremors and a loud sound that was heard across the Nabatieh Governorate and neighboring areas. Earlier, Israel's Channel 12 and public broadcaster KAN reported that the army was preparing to blow up tunnels and infrastructure in the area.
The Israeli army said it had completed the destruction of underground routes with a total length of more than two kilometers. It also claims that units of the 36th Division established operational control over the heights above and below ground, and that the tunnels were allegedly intended for use by Hezbollah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the destruction of the tunnels, in their wording, completed the establishment of a security zone in southern Lebanon. They also said that the Israeli army would remain in this zone.
The Lebanese army said on September 10 that it had recorded about 7,700 Israeli violations since Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement on June 26. The agreement, whose conclusion was facilitated by the United States, provides for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from all occupied territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army there.
