Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon kill four people
Four people were killed and another 20 injured as a result of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Sunday. According to France 24, Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported two deaths in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa and two women killed in neighboring Arab Salim. The injured include women and three children, and the casualty figures are preliminary.
Israeli army’s account
The Israeli army said it carried out the strikes after Hezbollah fighters allegedly launched two drones toward Israeli troops. It said the military was operating in a self-declared “security zone” in southern Lebanon. The Israeli side did not report any casualties among its troops.
Before the strikes, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for the first time in several weeks to residents near a building in Arab Salim, which it described as a Hezbollah facility. No warnings were issued to residents of other areas where strikes were reported.

Damage in populated areas
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that, following the Israeli warning, aircraft struck another house in Arab Salim, destroying it and killing two women. Later, according to the agency, the building named in the evacuation notice was also struck.
In Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, the strike destroyed part of the Gandour Hospital, which had not operated for many years. In the city of Nabatiyeh, according to the agency, a powerful airstrike targeted a historic building. Offices of state financial and agricultural agencies, as well as nearby shops and cafes, were also damaged. A separate strike on a motorcycle was also reported.
Israeli troops, according to the publication, continue to operate in a self-declared “security zone” about 10 kilometers deep inside Lebanese territory along the border. The level of violence declined after a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran in June and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, but Lebanon continues to report Israeli strikes, artillery shelling, and the destruction of civilian buildings in the country’s south.
