Hackers attacked a Polish radio station and spread a false report about the occupation of the Czech Republic
Hackers compromised the website of Radio PiK in Bydgoszcz and published a false article claiming that Poland was planning to seize part of the Czech Republic’s territory.
The fake article claimed that Poland was planning to occupy Czech territories and that the Czech Foreign Ministry had supposedly received a document to that effect.
According to the radio station’s editor-in-chief, the attackers gained access to the website after stealing the password of one of the employees. Once the attack was detected, the article was removed, and Poland’s Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime is investigating the incident.
Prior to the attack, a similar hoax had already been circulating on Facebook. Specifically, an unknown account posed as the Czech ambassador to Poland and published a forged document regarding Warsaw’s alleged demand that the Czech Republic cede part of its territory to Poland.
