China and Serbia begin joint patrols in Hainan province — ECNS
China and Serbia have launched two-week joint police patrols in the southern Chinese province of Hainan. At the invitation of China’s Ministry of Public Security, Serbia’s Ministry of Interior deployed eight police officers for the mission.
Patrols in tourist cities
The joint mission began on Friday. Police officers from both countries will work in mixed groups and patrol tourist sites in the cities of Sanya and Haikou, ECNS reports, citing CCTV News.

Assistance for Serbian citizens
The stated purpose of the patrols is to ensure the safety of Chinese and Serbian citizens while traveling, as well as to deepen bilateral cooperation in law enforcement. Serbian police officers will help their Chinese colleagues respond to security-related issues raised by Serbian citizens in China.
Serbian police representatives will also provide consultations on policing matters. According to CCTV News, this is intended to help maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists in the two cities of Hainan province.
