China cites risks over Typhon in Japan — ECNS
In China, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that the deployment of the U.S. Typhon missile system in Japan poses a strategic security problem and could increase the risk of military confrontation and an arms race. This was reported by ECNS.
Beijing’s response
The statement was made in response to a question about a recent diplomatic note that the Russian Federation, an aggressor state, sent to Japan regarding the deployment of the Typhon system on the island of Kyushu.
Guo described Typhon as a strategic offensive weapon. According to him, Japan’s introduction of this system is another sign of the country’s accelerating remilitarization.

Diplomatic steps
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson also said that the deployment of the system could intensify military confrontation and an arms race, threaten the strategic balance and regional stability, and undermine the legitimate security interests of neighboring countries.
According to Guo, China lodged a strong protest with Japan through diplomatic channels and recently sent a diplomatic note, reiterating its position. He called on Tokyo to take into account the concerns of countries in the region, halt its move toward remilitarization, and seriously reflect on the history of Japanese aggression. The spokesperson noted that this year marks 80 years since the Tokyo Trial.
