Korean Air orders 103 Boeing aircraft worth $36.2 billion
South Korean airline Korean Air has finalized an order for 103 Boeing aircraft with a total list value of $36.2 billion. The deal, first reported in 2025, was completed by Korean Air and U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Order composition
The package includes 20 Boeing 777-9 wide-body passenger aircraft, 25 Boeing 787-10s, 50 Boeing 737-10 narrow-body aircraft and eight Boeing 777-8 Freighter cargo aircraft.
Of these models, only the Boeing 787 is currently certified for commercial operation. Boeing continues to develop the 777-8 Freighter cargo version. Consulting and analytics firm IBA estimated the value of the order after discounts at approximately $12.6 billion at current market prices.
Engines and fleet renewal
Korean Air estimates the broader package of agreements at $44.8 billion. It includes an $8.6 billion contract to purchase 21 spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International, as well as a 15-year engine maintenance agreement for 28 aircraft.

The airline said the investment is intended to support long-term fleet expansion following the integration of Asiana Airlines and improve fuel efficiency through a transition to newer aircraft models. This plan is the largest in Korean Air's history.
Route network
Korean Air CEO Cho Won Tae previously said the new aircraft would enable the airline to expand its network of destinations in the United States and Latin America. According to him, about 80% of the aircraft are to replace the carrier's existing planes.
The plan was first presented during South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's visit to Washington last year. Cho Won Tae called the completion of the agreements an important milestone and said the investment demonstrates ties between the United States and South Korea. Boeing said the deal resulted from bilateral trade negotiations.
