Lukashenko called for preparations for a ground military operation

Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, held a meeting on military equipment and announced the development of a new state armament program for 2026–2030.

This was reported by Belarusian media.

According to Lukashenko, Belarus must focus on weapons that are suited to local conditions and the potential theater of operations.

“We must take into account the territory of Belarus. This is not a desert or the Ukrainian steppes. Therefore, we must purchase and develop the weapons we will need,” he stated.

Separately, Lukashenko emphasized the development of electronic warfare capabilities and drones, calling these key areas of modern warfare.

He also expressed the view that airstrikes alone are insufficient to win a war and stated the need to be prepared for any scenario.

Belarus continues to build infrastructure facilities deep within its territory and is not moving them closer to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Russia may use these facilities in the future to deploy additional forces and equipment.

Journalists have established that Belarus continues to play a significant role in supporting the Russian military-industrial complex by supplying chassis, electronics, and other key components for the Russian Armed Forces’ equipment. The value of these supplies in recent years has already reached billions of dollars.
