Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, interviewed the U.S. president on his radio show on New York’s WABC 77. During the conversation, Cohen referred to Trump as “boss” and “sir,” even though he had previously publicly criticized him harshly, according to The Guardian.

In 2019, while testifying before Congress, Cohen called Trump a racist, a con artist, and a fraud, and claimed that he behaved more like a mobster than a president. Cohen also claimed that Trump courted white supremacists and extremists. Trump himself had previously called his former lawyer a “rat.”

Cohen arranged, on Trump’s behalf, a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence. According to The Guardian, Cohen was serving a prison sentence for his role in what he himself called covering up Trump’s “dirty deeds” and has filed a petition for a pardon.

Before going on the air, Cohen told listeners that both he and Trump had been victims of the Department of Justice being used as a weapon. During the interview, Trump said he respected Cohen for allegedly recanting everything he had said previously. Cohen did not respond directly to this, but instead recalled their work together and expressed dissatisfaction with the TV networks’ focus on the president’s approval ratings.

Trump also reiterated his claims regarding the course of the war in Iran, the situation at the border, and the state of the U.S. economy. He claimed that opinion polls are rigged, and Cohen agreed with this assessment. After the conversation, Cohen quoted the song “Reunited” by Peaches & Herb. Criminal defense attorney Stacey Schneider, in comments to CNN, compared this meeting to the reunion of Julius Caesar and Brutus.
