The mayor of Wrocław was shocked by an attack on a couple from Ukraine by unknown assailants
Jacek Sutryk, the mayor of Wrocław, Poland, responded to reports of brutal attacks motivated by ethnic hatred and stated that there is no place for xenophobia and violence in the city.
He issued the statement following reports that a young Ukrainian couple had been beaten because of their accent.
Sutryk emphasized that every person, regardless of origin, language, or religion, has the right to feel safe in Wrocław. According to him, an attack based on nationality is a blow to the entire city community, and such incidents can no longer be considered isolated.
The mayor expressed his support for the victims, urged residents to report incidents of violence to law enforcement and, if possible, to document such incidents. He also called on politicians to refrain from rhetoric that could incite hatred and provoke violence.

Polish police are searching for the men who brutally beat Ukrainian citizens in Wrocław. Law enforcement officials suspect the attack may have been motivated by ethnic hatred. The Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław has also joined the investigation into the incident.
On July 27, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław contacted the Polish National Police regarding a new case of an attack on Ukrainian citizens.
