German investigators are demanding a confession from a Ukrainian national in the case involving the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines

German law enforcement authorities are attempting to obtain an official confession or testimony from Ukrainian citizen Serhiy Kuznetsov regarding his direct involvement in the planning and execution of the sabotage of the “Nord Stream 1” and “Nord Stream 2” in the Baltic Sea.

Kuznetsov is currently being held in a correctional facility in Germany, where he was recently transferred following the conclusion of a lengthy and complex extradition process from Italy.

According to the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office, the detained Ukrainian is one of the key perpetrators and technical participants in the deep-water sabotage operation that took place in the economic zones of Denmark and Sweden in September 2022. German investigators are attempting to build the upcoming trial specifically around the suspect’s personal confession, as this would significantly strengthen the prosecution’s case before the matter is referred to the court. Sergey Kuznetsov himself categorically rejects all charges of sabotage brought against him and officially asserts that he did not leave Ukrainian territory at all during the period of preparation and execution of the explosions in the Baltic Sea. His legal team also insists on their client’s innocence, emphasizing the German side’s complete lack of any direct physical or digital evidence of his presence on the yacht “Andromeda” or in the area of the incident.

As reported by “Babel.”

German investigators concluded that the attacks on the “Nord Stream” gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea in 2022 were carried out by a group of seven Ukrainians who allegedly acted under the direct command of Valery Zaluzhny, then Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It should be noted that the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office considers Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Z., who was detained in Poland, to be one of the perpetrators of the sabotage of the Russian “Nord Stream 1” and “Nord Stream 2” gas pipelines in September 2022.
