A Ukrainian and a Russian saved a Flydubai passenger plane from a crash

Media reports claiming that a Ukrainian and a Russian pilot had gotten into a fight aboard a FlyDubai flight turned out to be false. In fact, they saved the aircraft.

As it turned out, the Ukrainian and Russian pilots were traveling on the same flight as passengers and thwarted an attempt to cause a plane crash, saving the lives of about 180 people. Thanks to their actions, the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was able to land safely at an airport in Saudi Arabia.

During the flight on September 30, one of the crew members—believed to be an Omani citizen—attempted to seize control of the aircraft and likely cause a plane crash. He inflicted numerous stab wounds on the Emirati captain. Passengers on the plane reacted to the emergency by subduing the aggressive pilot, while a Ukrainian and a Russian passenger took control of the aircraft and landed it.

Following the incident, Flydubai announced its intention to thoroughly inspect all of its aircraft. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities plan to send an evacuation flight to Saudi Arabia to bring their citizens home after receiving the necessary authorization from Riyadh.
