New sexual violence complaint filed against Julio Iglesias
Two former employees of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias have filed a new complaint over alleged sexual violence and forced labor. This was reported by Dawn, citing the organization Women’s Link Worldwide, which represents the complainants and insists that Spain has jurisdiction to investigate.
Claims by former employees
The women, identified in the report as Rebecca and Laura, previously worked for Iglesias: one as a domestic worker and the other as a physiotherapist. They claim they were subjected to sexual and other forms of violence while working at the singer’s estates in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas in 2021.
According to Women’s Link Worldwide, the new complaint concerns, among other things, alleged sexual harassment and sexual violence, as well as forced and degrading working conditions.

The position of prosecutors and the singer
In January, Spanish prosecutors postponed consideration of the first complaint based on the same claims. They stated that Spanish courts do not have jurisdiction over events that, according to the complainants, took place in the two Caribbean countries, and that those states have the authority to investigate such cases.
The 82-year-old Iglesias called the accusations “absolutely false” and said that he had never “committed violence, forced or shown disrespect toward any woman.” The singer is a Grammy winner and has sold more than 300 million records over decades of his career.
