Russia has launched a large-scale disinformation campaign against Pashinyan

The pro-Kremlin bot network “Matryoshka” is conducting a large-scale disinformation campaign against Armenia and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to the monitoring project “Bot Blocker,” the network has recently spread 343 fake videos targeting the Armenian leadership.

Among the main fakes are false reports about Pashinyan’s alleged serious illness, Armenia’s preparations for war with Russia, as well as fabrications about the possible replacement of the Russian military base in Gyumri with a Turkish one.

Analysts claim that the Kremlin has spent more resources on the information attack against Armenia than on influence campaigns during the elections in the U.S., Germany, and Poland combined. According to their estimates, the scale of interference was greater only in Moldova.

Earlier, Pashinyan informed Putin that he would not attend the May 9 parade in Moscow.

Earlier, Armenia appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.
