Russian bank cards from the Mir payment system have begun to be accepted in Myanmar. This was announced by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov following talks between Vladimir Putin and Myanmar’s leader, Min Aung Hlaing.

According to Reshetnikov, the issue of payments for Russians in Myanmar has now been resolved. The parties also agreed to strengthen economic cooperation and develop joint projects.

During the meeting, Putin emphasized the need to boost the economic dimension of relations between the two countries.

Russia and Myanmar also have an agreement on a reciprocal 30-day visa-free regime, which was reached in October 2025.
