Russia has called Norway's seizure of its vessel an act of piracy

Russia has called Norway's seizure of its vessel an act of piracy

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Norway’s seizure of the vessel “Professor Molchanov” at the request of the Ukrainian state-owned company “Naftogaz.” The Russian ministry called the Norwegian authorities’ actions “piracy.”

Zakharova expressed outrage at Norway’s decision to seize the Russian vessel, disputing its legality.

“Again, in the past—perhaps 10 to 15 years ago—one might have harbored the illusion that this was some kind of legal procedure, that there were certain claims that were well-founded and could somehow be contested in courts or arbitration. But you can see what’s happening now. The West has legalized—and I would say simply lifted the veil on—piracy,” stated the spokeswoman for the Russian ministry.

She also assured that Russia would not abandon its citizens who remained on the ship.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made these remarks in an interview with Russian propaganda media outlets.

Zakharova was reacting to Germany’s decision to close the Russian House.

Zakharova complained about psychological abuse against Russian athletes.
