Russian pranksters posed as Ukrainians and played a prank on an adviser to the Greek prime minister

Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus released a recording of a video call with Tanos Dokos, the Greek prime minister’s national security adviser, after tricking him into believing he was speaking with Ukrainian officials.

During the conversation, Dokos discussed a Ukrainian maritime drone that washed ashore near the Greek island of Lefkada in May, and also touched on Greece’s relations with Turkey and the country’s domestic policy.

The Greek government stated that the official did not disclose any confidential or classified information. At the same time, following the incident, authorities decided to strengthen communications security measures to counter similar hybrid attacks.

Following the publication of the recording, Greece’s main opposition party called on Thanos Dokos to resign.
