Powerful explosions rocked a Bulgarian ammunition factory — BTA

On August 10, explosions occurred at an ammunition factory in the village of Belitsa, Bulgaria. Prior to the incident, a truck caught fire, after which the flames spread to part of the factory’s storage facilities.

 

On Monday, August 10, the BG-ALERT warning system was activated in connection with explosions that occurred in the morning at the EMCO Ltd. plant in the village of Belitsa, Tryavna Municipality. A fire broke out.

The alert urges citizens to follow the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior and avoid the area.

Minister of the Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev stated that, as a precautionary measure, the evacuation of residents from nearby settlements has been organized.

It is noted that the road at the turn-off to the village of Armyankivtsi has been blocked, and a checkpoint has been set up.

Tryavna Mayor Dencho Minev said that all factory workers are being transported by bus.

As a reminder, on the morning of August 8 in Bulgaria, a drone that entered the country’s airspace from the north exploded near the border with Romania. According to Deutsche Welle, the incident occurred in a sunflower field 100 meters from the border.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense stated that the drone, which exploded near a compressor station of the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, was likely of Ukrainian manufacture.

Later, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ukrainian ambassador over the drone explosion near the gas pipeline.
