Singapore Airlines to add eight flights between Singapore and Jakarta
Singapore Airlines will add eight additional flights between Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 8. The decision was made after the country’s main airport resumed operations, having been closed for several days due to volcanic ash, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Additional flights
Singapore Airlines said that the additional flights are available subject to seat availability. The airline will gradually rebook affected customers onto the nearest available flights as air connectivity between Singapore and Jakarta is restored.
In an update released at midnight on September 8, the carrier reported that six flights scheduled to depart in the morning had been rescheduled. Their departures were moved to the afternoon. The remaining flights are operating as scheduled, according to the airline.

Impact of the eruption
On Monday, Singapore Airlines cancelled 18 flights. Another flight scheduled to depart from Jakarta early on Tuesday morning was also cancelled.
On Saturday, the Anak Krakatau volcano, located about 150 kilometres from Jakarta, erupted lava and volcanic ash. As a result, operations at eight airports were suspended over the weekend. Singapore Airlines urged passengers to check the latest flight status, as the situation may change.
