Todd Blanche was sworn in as U.S. Attorney General
Todd Blanche, former personal attorney to U.S. President Donald Trump, was sworn in as U.S. Attorney General on Monday. The ceremony took place at the White House, according to The Guardian World.
Prior to his official appointment, Blanche had been serving as acting Attorney General since April. The U.S. Senate, where Republicans hold a majority, confirmed his nomination early Saturday morning. Fifty senators voted in favor of the decision, while 49 voted against it.
All Democratic senators voted against Blanche’s appointment. The Senate vote took place two days before the ceremony at the White House.

After taking the oath of office, Blanche took the helm of the U.S. Department of Justice as the Senate-confirmed attorney general. He is Trump’s former personal attorney.
Blanche became the second attorney general confirmed by the Senate during Trump’s second presidential term. The first was Pam Bondi, who was removed from office earlier this year.
