China-Laos Railway trade reached $3.49 billion — ECNS
In China, the value of cross-border goods transported via the China-Laos Railway reached 23.38 billion yuan, or $3.49 billion, in the first eight months of 2026. According to ECNS, the data were provided by Kunming Customs.
Freight transport volume
From January to August, the railway transported 3.822 million metric tons of cross-border cargo. This figure concerns cargo transported between China and Laos via this railway.

Imports and exports
The combined value of imports and exports transported via the China-Laos Railway increased by 31.5% year on year. The value of exports in the first eight months of the year amounted to 11.24 billion yuan.
The value of imports during the same period reached 12.14 billion yuan. Thus, the value of imports was higher than that of exports. The combined value of these two directions amounted to 23.38 billion yuan, as stated in Kunming Customs data.
