Trump has not decided whether to invite Russia to the G20 summit in Miami
U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet decided whether to invite Russia to the G20 summit, which will take place on December 14–15, 2026, in Miami.
At the same time, the U.S. president announced that Poland has already been invited to the upcoming summit. According to Trump, the country has a “wonderful leader.”
When asked by reporters if he plans to invite Russia, Trump replied:
“Oh, that’s interesting, I hadn’t thought about that… No, I hadn’t thought about that. That’s an interesting question. I’m going to think about it a little bit.”
Thus, as of September 4, Trump had not made a decision regarding Russia’s participation in the G20 summit in Miami.
At the same time, the issue of Moscow’s participation in G20 events is already sparking debate. In late August, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov took part in a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in the U.S., which drew criticism from some European participants.
The G20 Leaders’ Summit in Miami is scheduled for December 14–15, 2026.
Trump made this statement during a conversation with reporters.
