Trump commented on the CIA director's visit to Moscow
U.S. President Donald Trump commented for the first time on CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow, stating that the trip was “semi-routine.”
According to Trump, the visit is not related to speculation about possible aggressive actions by Russia against NATO countries. The U.S. president also emphasized that Washington seeks an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Previously, there had been considerable speculation surrounding the CIA director’s trip to Moscow. In particular, there was discussion of potential threats from Russia to NATO, but Trump dismissed such theories.
At the same time, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda confirmed that Vilnius had been informed in advance of Retcliffe’s planned visit to the Russian capital. According to him, the partners are expected to provide details of the meeting and its objectives in the near future.

John Retcliffe, Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, arrived in Moscow on August 25 aboard a C-17 Globemaster III strategic military transport aircraft. Government aircraft could have been used for the high-ranking U.S. official’s trip, but this time a much more powerful military aircraft was chosen.
