Türkiye presents COP31 priorities in Antalya — Anadolu Agency
Türkiye has presented organizational plans and ten priorities for the COP31 climate conference, which will take place in Antalya on November 9–20. Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Burak Demiralp said that the main principles of Türkiye’s presidency would be dialogue, consensus and action.
According to him, the country has completed detailed planning for participants’ stay, from arrival to departure from Antalya. Preparations cover security, comfort and accessibility of services. Transport links between accommodation sites and the COP31 venue are also being prepared for international media representatives, Anadolu Agency reports.
Ten areas of action
Türkiye has included ten areas in the COP31 action agenda: zero waste, oceans and seas, food security, climate-resilient cities, a bridge for implementing climate action, youth and education, green industrialization, the transition to clean energy and electrification, effective synergy, and dynamic and resilient health systems.

Demiralp noted that these topics should form the basis of the negotiating agenda and help focus on the key components of the green transition. They cover issues of clean energy, industrial transformation, food security, urban resilience, environmental protection, education and healthcare.
Leaders’ summit in November
Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci said that the leaders’ summit within COP31 is scheduled for November 11–12, during the first week of the main conference. It is expected to bring together heads of state and government to strengthen political ambition in climate action, announce concrete commitments, launch key initiatives and give momentum to negotiations.
According to Ekinci, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres are to welcome leaders after their arrival. Following the opening ceremony, Erdoğan, Guterres and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese are expected to deliver speeches. The first day of the summit is to conclude with a gala dinner for heads of state and government, hosted by Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan.
