A fire broke out in the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs building
On the morning of August 27, a fire broke out in a ventilation shaft at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Vilnius. The fire was quickly contained; it did not spread to the ministry’s offices, and there were no injuries. The preliminary cause is believed to be a malfunctioning electric motor.
A report of the fire at the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry building was received around 7:25 a.m. local time. A spokeswoman for the fire and rescue service reported that smoke was coming from the roof of the building.
Four fire trucks, a ladder truck, and a command vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
When firefighters arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the building’s ventilation shaft was on fire. The fire was quickly contained; it did not spread to the interior, and the building itself was not damaged. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
According to preliminary reports, the fire was caused by a malfunctioning electric motor in the ventilation shaft.
