More than 75,000 people displaced in Chad due to Boko Haram attacks
More than 75,000 people in Chad’s Lake Province have recently become internally displaced. This happened after Boko Haram stepped up its attacks in recent months, France 24 reports, citing the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Fleeing the islands
According to the IOM, most of the more than 75,000 people in question left the islands of Lake Chad. They are seeking safety in towns and villages located farther from the island areas.

Emergency aid
The IOM is providing emergency assistance to displaced people. The organization is directing support toward meeting the most urgent needs of people who have left their places of residence. The figure provided by the IOM covers new cases of internal displacement specifically within Lake Province.
