The son of Mango's founder has been arrested in Catalonia on suspicion of murdering his father

On May 19, the Catalan police arrested Jonathan Andik, the son of Isaac Andik, founder of the Spanish clothing chain Mango, on suspicion of murdering his father.

This was reported by El País.

Plainclothes officers arrested Andik Jr. at his home in Barcelona, La Vanguardia reports. Andik was arrested so he could appear before a judge and give testimony as a suspect. No other details are known: the case remains under seal, El Pais adds.

A family representative confirmed that Jonathan is testifying as part of the investigation into the incident on December 14, 2024—the day Isaac Andik died.

Isaac Andik died in December 2024 after falling from a height on Mount Montserrat in Catalonia. His death was initially classified as an accident, but in October 2025, the case was reclassified as a homicide.

The Catalan police have considered Jonathan Andik a suspect since at least October 2025, according to El País. Initially, the investigation treated Isaac’s death as an accident, but the police later discovered inconsistencies in Jonathan’s testimony. It turned out that a few days before the incident, he had visited Montserrat. Jonathan’s lawyers claim that he was simply preparing for the trip.

Investigators also found that there had been conflicts between father and son, particularly regarding Jonathan’s role in managing the company. Isaac Andik decided to hand over management of the company to his son in 2014, but returned to the helm just a year later to assemble a new team and revitalize the business.

This, according to El País sources, strained the relationship between Isaac and Jonathan. Isaac Andik’s partner, professional golfer Estefania Knut, also spoke about the complicated relationship between father and son.

Jonathan Andik has maintained his innocence from the very beginning.

Spanish law enforcement has opened a criminal investigation into the suspected murder of Isaac Andik, founder of the well-known fashion brand Mango, who died in December 2024 during a family outing in Catalonia. Initially, the death of the 71-year-old billionaire was considered an accident, but now the police are investigating the possibility of intentional murder.

The Polish National Prosecutor’s Office has referred a criminal case against Russian citizens Igor and Irina R., who are suspected of spying for Moscow, to a court in Sosnowiec.
