In Latvia’s Vidzeme region, two people have been charged in a case involving the rape of a 12-year-old girl who became pregnant. A man is charged with the rape of a minor, while a woman is charged with failing to report the crime to law enforcement, which investigators say she knew about.

Investigation began after visit to medical facility

As LSM English reports, on February 11, the State Police received information that a girl born in 2013 had visited a medical facility, where she was diagnosed as pregnant.

Investigators established that an adult man had sexual relations with the 12-year-old girl, as a result of which she became pregnant. The man, born in 2003, was detained on February 14.
