Macron's office was informed of a possible start date for peace talks with Russia
U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner conveyed to their European partners information about Russia’s possible willingness to return to the negotiation process with Ukraine following the Russian State Duma elections, which will take place on September 18–20. According to the Élysée Palace, this vote could open the door to a new phase of negotiations.
In this regard, the national security advisers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have agreed to maintain constant contact with Washington to work with Ukraine on developing the conditions for resuming dialogue.
At the same time, the U.S. side has not yet provided specific parameters for future negotiations, and the territorial issue remains a key point of contention between Kyiv and Moscow.
This was reported by the publication “Glavkom,” citing “Public Sénat.”
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that trilateral talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. could resume, but called it premature to discuss specific dates or the venue for the meeting.
Witkoff announced peace talks in the Ukraine-Europe-U.S. format.
