Case opened in Pakistan over threats to dengue inspectors — Dawn
In Rawalpindi, Pakistan, police have registered a case against two shopkeepers suspected of obstructing a dengue inspection team and threatening its workers. The incident occurred in the Morgah area during a routine inspection of a confectionery shop.
Conflict during the inspection
As Dawn reports, sanitary patrol workers Ahsan Mahmood and Owais Ali came to the establishment. According to a statement filed with police by Syed Nayar Abbas, one of the shopkeepers refused to allow the inspectors to conduct the inspection, insulted them and demanded that they leave the premises.

Later, another man joined the conflict and, according to the statement, also insulted the team members, pushed them and threatened them. The statement alleges that the workers were grabbed by their collars, pushed out of the premises and prevented from carrying out their official duties.
Investigation launched
The case was registered following a complaint by Rawalpindi's executive district health officer. It was opened under Sections 506, 353 and 186 of the PPC, and police have launched an investigation. The circumstances set out in the statement are the complainant's allegations and grounds for investigative action.
