Taekwondo performances to resume in Seoul after attendance growth
In Seoul, South Korea, a series of taekwondo performances will resume after the summer break. The shows will be held every weekend at Namsangol Hanok Village, a village of traditional Korean houses, through October 18, with performances scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Korea Herald reports, citing Seoul authorities.
Performance program
The program combines demonstrations of traditional taekwondo techniques with elements of performing arts. Spectators will see board breaking, exercise routines and self-defense techniques. The performances will feature teams from Kukkiwon, Mirme and Bigabi, as well as demonstration teams from Hwasung Medi-Science and Daekyeung universities.
Separate outdoor performances will take place at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on September 19 and October 9.

Event attendance
In the first half of the year, 35 performances were attended by 20,809 people, up 110.8% from 9,870 during the corresponding period a year earlier. This figure also exceeded last year's total audience of 19,835.
Overall, 22,308 people took part in the performances and related events, including 7,462 foreign visitors, or 33.4%. Visitors to Namsangol Hanok Village will also be able to try digital games involving hand and foot strikes without prior registration.
Foreign guests will be offered classes in basic movements and board breaking led by professional instructors, as well as an opportunity to try on taekwondo uniforms. Participants will receive a certificate and a commemorative belt.
