An air raid siren was sounded again in Warsaw due to a technical malfunction
In Warsaw on the evening of July 21, after the conclusion of the ALARM-26 exercises, air raid sirens unexpectedly sounded again. The Polish Government Security Center reported that the cause was a technical malfunction in the system.
The ALARM-26 exercises were scheduled to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., the RCB sent out at least two messages stating that the active phase of the exercises involving the use of sirens had already ended.
However, after 9:00 p.m., a warning signal indicating an emergency sounded again in the Polish capital. The Government Security Center confirmed that this was no longer part of the drills.
“We are currently investigating the cause of this activation. We are considering several scenarios, including the most likely one—a technical malfunction,” said RCB spokesperson Piotr Błaszczyk.
The Government Security Center is also working to determine who is responsible for the malfunction in the warning system.
