In Vilnius, two men tore down the Ukrainian flag
In Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, two men tore down the Ukrainian flag from a flagpole on a building. Both suspects were quickly apprehended; they were intoxicated.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on the night of September 14.
Two young men tore down the Ukrainian flag from a flagpole on a building located on Prince Gediminas Avenue in central Vilnius.
Law enforcement officers quickly located the suspects and detained them.
According to the publication, the men were born in 1995 and 2000.
During a breathalyzer test, the detainees were found to be significantly intoxicated.
The test showed 1.49 per mille for the first man and 2.43 per mille for the second.
An investigation into the incident has been launched. Law enforcement officials are determining the circumstances and motives behind the men’s actions.
The incident in Vilnius occurred amid other incidents involving Ukrainian symbols in Poland.
In particular, in Lublin, the Ukrainian flag was removed from the city council building following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to bestow the honorary title “Named After the Heroes of the UPA” on one of the Special Operations Forces units.
Also, on August 25, in Radom, Poland, a 34-year-old man, along with several others, attacked three 20-year-old Ukrainians. According to reports, prior to the attack, a conversation took place between the men about the Ukrainians’ origins and the Volhynia tragedy, which was initiated by the attacker.
Lithuanian law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident involving the Ukrainian flag in Vilnius.

Earlier, in Poznań, Poland, a group of men attacked a local resident, mistakenly believing him to be Ukrainian. During the attack, they insulted the man and demanded that he “go to war.”
In Ostrava, Czech Republic, a group of Poles attacked volunteer cyclist Kuba Heysig from Chorzów, mistaking him for a Ukrainian. The reason was the man’s yellow-and-blue panama hat bearing the inscription “GÓRNY ŚLĄSK.”
