Ukraine can help ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz, says British minister
Ukraine is capable of playing an important role in international efforts to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz thanks to modern defense technologies developed during the war.
This was stated by British Defense Minister Al Carnes during a visit to Kyiv, Reuters reports.
According to him, Ukrainian innovations in the field of drones can be useful not only in countering Russian attacks but also in a broader international context, particularly in the Middle East.
“Ukraine has some of the best technologies in the world, developed right now, during the war. I think they could prove useful in the Middle East, as we are already seeing, in the fight against Shahed drones—all the way to the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
Karns emphasized that his visit was also intended to reaffirm the UK’s priority of supporting Ukraine in the areas of defense and security.
He noted the rapid development of Ukrainian technologies in the fields of drones, artificial intelligence, and data utilization, calling them “a revolution in military affairs.”
The British minister also urged Ukraine to accelerate the development of the defense industry’s export potential, emphasizing that Ukrainian innovations remain among the most advanced in the world, although other countries are actively catching up.
As a reminder, Iran seeks to receive payment for the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz exclusively in cryptocurrency, which allows it to circumvent international banking sanctions.
