A Ukrainian expert will help Poland identify a Russian missile

A Ukrainian expert has traveled to Poland to assist in identifying the Russian missile that fell in the Lublin Voivodeship. Preliminary reports suggest it is an X-101 cruise missile.

The Ukrainian specialist is to assist the Polish side in determining the type of missile and other circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and official conclusions regarding the origin of the debris have not yet been released.

Ukraine, which has offered its assistance, will be involved in the investigation of the nighttime missile incident. Specifically, a Ukrainian expert is heading to the crash site in the village of Tarnava-Kolonia to help Polish specialists identify the missile.

The investigation into the incident has been entrusted to the military division of the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office. At the scene, authorities are continuing to collect debris and samples of chemical substances to send them to a specialized laboratory.

According to journalists’ observations, there are about a hundred personnel from various agencies and about fifty members of the Territorial Defense Forces at the scene.

The crater left by the rocket in the ground is about 10 meters in diameter and about 5 meters deep; debris was scattered 200 meters in all directions. Footage of the missile explosion, captured by a private surveillance camera, has been posted online.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that, by all indications, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile struck the Lublin Voivodeship.

This was reported by RMF24.

Polish authorities did not warn residents of the missile threat.

In Poland, during the massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on the night of July 29–30, an air raid alert was issued in part of the Lublin Voivodeship. After the alert ended, a crater about 10 meters in diameter and debris from an unidentified object were discovered in a field near the villages of Tarnava-Kolonia and Tokary.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz commented on the missile strike in the Lublin Voivodeship and stated that the country is very close to the war zone. According to him, hostilities are ongoing near Poland, but some people have already stopped taking this threat seriously.

Poland scrambled fighter jets and activated sirens in response to Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine.
