Etihad Rail station in Dubai set to open on September 30
Dubai Al Yalayis Station on the Etihad Rail network is scheduled to open in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on September 30. It is located near the Jumeirah Golf Estates district, opposite the Dubai Metro station of the same name, The National reports.
Work is being completed on the surrounding roads, landscaping and external elements of the building, including a pedestrian bridge. The journey from Dubai Al Yalayis Station to Mohamed bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi is expected to take 57 minutes. Ticket prices and the number of daily services have not yet been announced.
Connection to the metro
Access to the Dubai Metro Red Line will be provided by an elevated pedestrian crossing nearly 400 metres long. After the Gold Line opens in 2032, the transport hub is expected to become an interchange between the two metro lines.
Highways E311, E44 and D57 also lead to the area. The railway line continues to Jebel Ali Port, while freight services on the Etihad Rail network officially began in 2023.

Passenger traffic expectations
Reem Sabouni, an associate professor at Abu Dhabi University and transport specialist, believes the new connection could increase travel between the emirates for work, study and leisure. At the same time, she stressed that the service's success will depend on convenient transfers at the beginning and end of the route.
Railway observer Omar Mahfouf suggested that the route between Abu Dhabi and Dubai would become one of the busiest in the passenger network. According to him, a car journey between the cities can take up to an hour and a half, while travel on the new train will take less than an hour.
Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah is also scheduled to open on September 30. Madinat Zayed and Liwa stations in the Al Dhafra region are due to begin operating on November 30, while Al Sila, Al Dhannah and Mirfa are scheduled for December 30. University City in Sharjah is expected to be the final station in the passenger network, with its opening planned for March 30, 2027.
