The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has disqualified the Yabloko party from the State Duma elections
The Russian Supreme Court revoked the registration of the “Yabloko” party’s federal list for the State Duma elections. The decision was handed down by Judge Vyacheslav Kirillov after considering a lawsuit filed by the “Rodina” party and the arguments of both sides.
The court hearing lasted more than eight hours. Among its allegations against “Yabloko,” “Rodina” cited alleged calls for “extremism,” foreign funding, and copyright violations. The latter two allegations had previously been supported by representatives of the Central Election Commission, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and Rosfinmonitoring.
“Yabloko” stated that it would appeal the court’s decision. If the appeal does not overturn the verdict, the party will not participate in State Duma elections for the first time since 1993.
