Video: A fight broke out between lawmakers in the Armenian parliament
A brawl broke out in the Armenian parliament between lawmakers from the ruling and opposition factions following a speech by Edgar Kazaryan, a lawmaker from the “Strong Armenia” party. He accused Parliament Speaker Ruben Rubinyan of embezzling public funds.
During his speech, Kazaryan called on lawmakers from the ruling “Civic Contract” party not to spend the bonuses they had received. According to him, these funds should be returned to the state budget.
“Rubinyan has allowed the embezzlement of state funds. I urge you not to spend these 250,000, not to spend your bonuses. We will recover every last kopeck from you,” the opposition lawmaker declared.

Ruben Rubinyan urged Kazaryan to speak only on items on the meeting’s agenda, after which he turned off his microphone.
When the opposition lawmaker returned to his seat, a verbal altercation broke out between representatives of the ruling party and the opposition, which escalated into a brawl.

Video footage shows “Civic Contract” MP Hayk Galumyan, and later his colleagues, attacking members of the “Strong Armenia” faction.
Rubinyan called on the lawmakers to return to their seats, but once the scuffle began, he called a recess and summoned security personnel. They escorted the lawmakers out of the chamber, after which the conflict continued in the corridors of parliament.
The incident was captured by a Panorama.am photojournalist.
