Zelenskyy condemned a violent attack by a Ukrainian on a monastery in Poland

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack by a Ukrainian citizen on the Benedictine abbey in the Polish city of Jarosław, which resulted in the death of a priest and injuries to four other people.

The head of state expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that he was shocked by this act of evil and called for a swift and thorough investigation into all the circumstances of the tragedy.

“The perpetrator of this evil must bear full responsibility in accordance with the law. It is painful that people are capable of such horrific crimes. Justice must prevail,” the president emphasized.

The attack took place on the morning of September 24 on the grounds of the Yaroslavl Abbey on Benediktinskaya Street. Around 9:30 a.m., police received a report of a stabbing. According to preliminary information from the Polish police, a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen stabbed four men and one woman. All of the victims were taken to the hospital. Three men sustained serious injuries; the fourth died in the hospital.
