A Russian military helicopter violated Polish airspace

On Wednesday, September 23, a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter violated Polish airspace, entering from the Kaliningrad region. The Russian aircraft remained in Polish airspace for 42 seconds.

The incident occurred on September 23 at 11:08 a.m. north of the town of Branewo. The Russian helicopter entered Polish airspace at an altitude of about 300 meters.

The aircraft’s movement was tracked by Polish radar systems from the outset.

Reaction of the Polish Military

In response to the airspace violation, fighter jets were immediately scrambled, and ground forces and air defense systems were put on alert.

The command emphasized that the nature of this incident indicates yet another attempt by Russia to test the readiness of Poland’s air defense system.

Currently, Polish air defense units continue round-the-clock surveillance and remain on constant alert to defend the country’s airspace.

This was reported with reference to a statement from the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

Two airports in Poland were closed again due to an attack by Russia.

For the third time in a week, Russia attacked an area near the Ukrainian border crossing with Poland in Jagodzin. Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that Moscow continues to escalate the conflict, and that Ukraine and its partners must increase pressure on Russia. According to him, the response should include additional air defense systems, new sanctions, and restrictions on the Russian military machine.

EU leaders warned of the threat following the crash of a Russian missile in Poland.
