Hyundai unveils fifth-generation Tucson in South Korea — Korea Herald
Hyundai Motor unveiled the fifth-generation Tucson crossover in Paju, South Korea. This is the model’s first full update in six years. The vehicle received a larger and more angular body, an upgraded hybrid powertrain and a new multimedia system with artificial intelligence functions, Korea Herald reports.
The Tucson first entered the market in 2004, and its cumulative global sales have since exceeded 10 million vehicles. Hyundai plans to announce prices for the new generation in October, when sales of the model are expected to begin in South Korea.
Larger body and new design
The new Tucson uses the Art of Steel design language, with cleaner body surfaces and pronounced fenders. Compared with the previous version, its length increased by 60 mm, its width by 40 mm, and its wheelbase by 30 mm.

Headroom for second-row passengers increased by 29 mm to 1,031 mm. The rear doors now open to an angle of up to 83 degrees, which, according to the company, should make it easier to install child seats and transport large items. An XRT version will also be offered, with a separate radiator grille, wheel-arch cladding, skid plates and exclusive wheels.
Engines and multimedia
The gasoline version will be equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine producing 193 hp, 13 hp more than the previous version, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid version will receive a powertrain with a combined output of 245 hp. Its stated fuel economy is 17.4 km per liter.
The crossover became Hyundai’s first SUV with the Pleos Connect multimedia system. The cabin will feature a 17-inch or 12.9-inch 16:9 display, while physical buttons have been retained for key functions. The Gleo AI system, based on a large language model, is expected to understand conversational requests, search for information and suggest travel plans. The stated safety systems include assistance in case of accidental pedal application, forward parking collision prevention and backup power for unlocking doors after an accident.
