Mercedes-Benz to use Wayve for driver-assistance system — InsideEVs
Mercedes-Benz plans to install driver-assistance technology from British startup Wayve in future vehicles. The companies plan to introduce a system based on AI Driver software for point-to-point urban trips within the next two years, InsideEVs reports.
System without HD maps
Wayve says it uses an end-to-end approach to automated driving that does not require highly detailed maps. The companies described the planned feature as an advanced urban driver-assistance system for point-to-point travel.
Mercedes-Benz is an investor in Wayve. The startup said the new agreement continues the companies' years-long technical partnership. At the same time, the parties did not specify in which markets the feature would appear or which Mercedes-Benz models would receive it first.

Parallel cooperation with Nvidia
Mercedes-Benz is also working with Nvidia on another driver-assistance system. Last year, the automaker demonstrated MB.Drive Assist Pro, which is intended to drive the vehicle to its destination under driver supervision, taking into account pedestrians, traffic lights and other complex road situations.
The MB.Drive Assist Pro system was shown for the CLA model, but it has not yet reached customers. Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz suspended the expansion of Drive Pilot, shifting its focus to the project with Nvidia. In 2023, the company began selling the Level 3 Drive Pilot system in the United States, which could operate without constant driver supervision on certain highways in California and Nevada at low speeds.
According to the publication, Wayve has also reached agreements over the past year to use its technology in vehicles made by Stellantis and Nissan.
