Rocketeer offers V6 conversion for Mazda MX-5 NC — Motor1
Rocketeer has confirmed a ready conversion program for the NC-generation Mazda MX-5 roadster, involving the installation of a 3.0-liter Jaguar AJ30 V6. After the modifications, the engine produces around 304 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. The car’s public debut is scheduled for the 2026 Goodwood Revival, Motor1 reports.
V6 instead of the standard four-cylinder engine
For the conversion, Rocketeer uses a Jaguar AJ30 produced after 2003. It is a 3.0-liter V6 related to the Ford Duratec family. Production Mazda MX-5 NC models were equipped with either a 1.8-liter engine producing 126 hp or a 2.0-liter unit rated at 160 hp.
According to Rocketeer, the modified AJ30 receives a carbon intake, individual throttle bodies, a modified cylinder head, and a redesigned exhaust system. A lightweight flywheel and reinforced clutch are also provided to handle the higher torque.

Weight balance and orders
Rocketeer says it does not alter the firewall or subframe during the conversion. The company also claims that the car retains the factory 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, while curb weight remains at its original level after the V6 installation.
The customer must provide their own MX-5 NC, after which Rocketeer will carry out the complete conversion. The price of the finished project in the United Kingdom is £25,000 excluding VAT. The company plans to process orders through accredited partners in North America, Germany, and Australia, while work slots are already being allocated through 2027.
Rocketeer previously offered similar V6 conversions for the earlier Mazda MX-5 generations — NA and NB. The Motor1 article notes that the V6 architecture adapted by Ford for Duratec and Jaguar originated from a Porsche development.
