First volume on ties between Asia Minor and Cyprus to be presented in Cyprus — Cyprus Mail

In Nicosia, Cyprus, on November 5, 2026, the official presentation of the first volume of the two-volume edition “Voices and Memories of Asia Minor and Cyprus. They Do Not Fade, They Are Not Forgotten” will take place. The 768-page book was published by Tetraktys Films, Cyprus Mail reports.

Archives and testimonies

The research, writing and editing of the edition were carried out by Dr Chrysanthos Chrysanthou, while Stavros Papageorgiou served as coordinator. The first volume was the result of research conducted in Cyprus, Greece and Asia Minor. It includes primary archival materials, rare photographs and authentic testimonies.

The edition highlights Cyprus’s centuries-old ties with the cities of the southern coast of Asia Minor, including Antalya, Alanya and Mersin. The book also discusses the life of the Greek community of Alanya and the historical, religious, educational, commercial and social ties between the regions.

Special attention is given to people from Asia Minor who found temporary or permanent refuge in Cyprus after the catastrophe of 1922. Among them is Anastasios Tosunoglu from Alanya, who settled on the island and started a family. The edition also tells of the arrival of refugees in Cyprus, quarantine at the Dekelia lazaretto, assistance from local residents and the displaced people’s attempts to begin a new life.
