Amazon has stopped including product names in its order confirmation emails
Amazon has started sending some order confirmation emails to customers without listing the names of the items purchased. Instead, the messages list only general categories—such as cosmetics, electronics, health products, or accessories. To view a specific item, customers must go to the Amazon app or website, according to The Verge.
Users noticed the change this summer. According to the publication, order emails sent as early as June included product thumbnails and names, while complaints about the generalized notifications began appearing in July. Some shoppers say the new format makes it harder to keep track of their purchases and may resemble spam or phishing emails.

Amazon explained that it has simplified several types of order-related emails because customers are increasingly using the “Your Orders” page in the app. There, they can find up-to-date summary information about their orders and delivery status. The company also stated that this approach reduces the amount of customer information shared outside the Amazon app and website and should improve privacy.
The Verge speculates that the change may be partly related to the development of AI tools for shopping. Google is developing AI-powered features for searching for and purchasing products and has introduced a shopping cart designed to work with various retailers and integrate with Gmail in the future. Amazon, meanwhile, is developing its own AI-powered shopping features, including price tracking, automatic purchases, and Alexa for Shopping within the app.
