After leaving Ukraine, Kravchenko registered in Vienna
Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko registered his primary residence in Vienna after leaving Ukraine. However, as “Ukrainska Pravda” discovered, the address listed in the Austrian registry is that of a company office, not a residential address. Journalists speculate that this may have been done to conceal his actual place of residence in Austria.
Ruslan Kravchenko and his wife, Oleksandra, left Ukraine in September. According to “Ukrainska Pravda,” they traveled to Austria by land and subsequently registered their primary residence there. Kravchenko himself crossed the Ukrainian border on the night of September 14 via the “Shehyni” border crossing. He was traveling in a Mercedes with a driver who works in passenger transportation.
Kravchenko’s wife left earlier—on September 12, she crossed the border with Moldova on foot and then continued her journey by car through Romania. According to journalists, the couple did not travel by air. Kravchenko explained his departure as a business trip involving meetings with international partners. He did not return to work afterward.
The address in Vienna turned out to be an office
The most interesting detail emerged after their move to Austria. In documents from Austria’s Central Register of Residence, Kravchenko and his wife listed the same address—Jordangasse 7/12, 1010 Wien. This is a building in Vienna’s historic center, near Stephansplatz. However, journalists discovered that apartment No. 12 at this address is actually the office of CS Corporate Services GmbH, not a residential unit.
The company explicitly offers domiciliation services. Simply put, it can provide firms with a legal address, receive mail, and handle it on behalf of the client. The company also provides secretarial and administrative services and sells pre-registered companies. According to the journalists, a number of other companies are registered at this address. Among them are Duracell Austria GmbH and KPLER GmbH. “Ukrainska Pravda” notes that listing such a location as an actual place of residence may violate Austrian registration rules. At the same time, it is the publication’s journalists who are drawing conclusions about a possible violation, not an Austrian court or any other competent authority.
What Is Known About Kravchenko’s Departure
The former prosecutor general’s departure took place amid a conflict between the Office of the Prosecutor General and anti-corruption agencies. On September 14, Kravchenko stated that he had signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. He linked this to the alleged forgery of documents. At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that no official notice of suspicion had been served on Kryvonos.
That same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspended Kravchenko from his post and appealed to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss him. On September 15, parliament approved the dismissal—317 deputies voted in favor. The situation unfolded against the backdrop of Operation “Carthage” and investigations by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). As part of this case, law enforcement agencies conducted investigative actions, including at the Office of the Prosecutor General.
At the same time, SAPO Head Oleksandr Klymenko stated that there had been no communication with Kravchenko regarding Operation “Carthage,” and that their interaction remained strictly professional and technical. Thus, after leaving Ukraine, Kravchenko ended up in Austria and registered his residence there. However, according to a journalistic investigation, the address he provided in his documents does not lead to an apartment but to the office of a company that provides registered address services.
The Office of the Prosecutor General settled the final accounts with Ruslan Kravchenko after his dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General. He was paid his salary and compensation for all unused days of annual leave; however, the Office of the Prosecutor General did not disclose the specific amount of the payment.
Former Prosecutor General Kravchenko did not return to work after his business trip.
Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has permanently left the prosecutor’s office following his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General. He submitted his resignation, after which Acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalsky signed the corresponding order.
