Video: Court sentences Kyiv woman to 9 years in prison for blowing up a soldier's car on orders from Russia
In Kyiv, a court found a 24-year-old local woman guilty of planting explosives under a military officer’s car on the orders of Russian handlers and sentenced her to nine years in prison with confiscation of her property.
According to the investigation, the woman agreed to carry out the task assigned by a representative of the Russian Federation in exchange for a reward of $1,500. She built the explosive device herself and planted it under the undercarriage of a Land Rover used by the serviceman. To record the moment of the explosion, the perpetrator left a cell phone nearby with the video camera turned on.
The explosion occurred on the morning of January 4, 2026, in the Obolon district of Kyiv, when a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine, who was on leave, opened the trunk of the vehicle. As a result of the explosion, the 30-year-old man suffered an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg. A woman who was standing nearby was also injured.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect shortly after the attack. Her actions were classified as a terrorist act. During the trial, the defendant fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse.

As a reminder, the commander of an electronic warfare company was sentenced to 10 years for selling a charitable complex.
The prosecutor’s office is preparing to appeal the pretrial detention order for a police officer who fatally struck a 6-year-old girl with her patrol car in Pryluky on December 10.
