Drones attack defence enterprise in Sevastopol
During the night of 19 March, a series of powerful explosions was reported in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
A strategic facility of the Almaz-Antey concern, which specialises in servicing the enemy’s air defence systems, was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles.
Preliminary information indicates that the service centre building suffered critical damage, with nearly half of the structure destroyed. The occupation authorities were forced to urgently close Fiolent Highway near the site.
“An Almaz-Antey facility in Sevastopol was attacked overnight, with half of the building destroyed… Fiolent Highway near the enterprise is currently closed,” eyewitnesses reported via local monitoring channels.
Residents stated that at least five drones struck the building, causing a large fire and detonation. The blast wave was so powerful that windows were shattered in nearby residential apartments.
In addition to damage at the facility itself, the nearby civilian sector was affected. Debris and fragments damaged eight private vehicles, though the exact number of casualties among the facility’s personnel is still being clarified.
The Almaz-Antey concern in Sevastopol plays a key role in maintaining the combat readiness of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Since 2016, this technical and production base has carried out repairs and maintenance of surface-to-air missile systems.
It should be recalled that drones have also attacked a fertiliser plant in Russia’s Stavropol region. In addition, the Saratov region was recently hit by drones, with more than 60 explosions reported.
