Spartan fighters destroyed two Russian S-300 launchers near Volnovakha
Pilots from the 3rd Special Operations Brigade “Spartan,” named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan, of the Ukrainian National Guard destroyed two Russian S-300 air defense systems.
UAV operators from the Black Sky battalion detected and destroyed two S-300 air defense system launchers.
The enemy systems were located near Volnovakha, close to the Donetsk–Mariupol highway.
According to the brigade’s assessment, the value of the destroyed equipment is approximately $50 million. The elimination of these launchers reduces Russia’s ability to strike frontline areas in the Donetsk region.
The unit noted that the Russians often use S-300 systems in “surface-to-surface” mode to fire on ground targets.
The brigade also stated: “We continue to target the Russians’ ‘deep rear.’ More to come.”
The brigade reported this and released a video of combat operations on June 26.
As a reminder, Ukrainian drone operators are using heavy munitions to strike Russian troop positions and force the occupiers to leave their cover. Military personnel described the specifics of drone operations on the front lines and tactics for engaging the enemy.
Enemy assault groups are attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian positions under the cover of vegetation, using so-called “green camouflage” and moving in small groups, but the Defense Forces are adapting their countermeasures and inflicting damage using drones.
