Belarus is not moving troops and military equipment to the border with Ukraine
The situation on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border remains stable: at this time, there are no signs of additional equipment being deployed or an increase in troop numbers on the Belarusian side. State Border Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko emphasized that intelligence and border units are monitoring the situation around the clock to respond promptly to any potential provocations.
According to Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, there are currently no signs of strike groups being formed or troop buildup along the border with Belarus. Belarusian armed forces units, which have been stationed in border areas since 2022, are conducting only routine rotations and movements, but their total numbers remain unchanged. Similarly, border guards have not observed any movement of military equipment directly near the state border.
Although the Belarusian side continues to escalate the situation through statements about the creation of a Southern Operational Command and the development of training grounds, there is currently no real threat of an offensive. The Russian Federation also does not maintain sufficient infantry or equipment on Belarusian territory for a renewed invasion. The main danger in this area remains potential provocations aimed at forcing Ukraine to withdraw some of its forces from the front lines.
Despite the absence of an immediate threat, the Ukrainian military and intelligence remain on constant alert and are closely monitoring the enemy’s every move. At the same time, in five border regions—Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Chernihiv—the construction of new fortifications and engineering structures is continuously underway directly along the border to ensure the country’s security.
Additionally, Russia may have instructed Belarus to keep Ukrainian forces “on edge” ahead of new attacks in the east and south. This is according to the Center for Countering Disinformation. At the same time, Ukraine is observing troop activity and the preparation of positions near the border.
